Two More Wins For 5th Ranked Lady Pirates At The DMACC Classic

In a fiercely competitive game between North Central Missouri College and McCook Community College, the 5th ranked Lady Pirates emerged victorious with a narrow 64-59 win.  A balanced attack, albeit in lower scoring fashion than NCMC is accustomed to, let to victory.

 

Despite a challenging shooting night for NCMC, they managed to secure the victory with resilience and determination. Jessica Reeter, despite encountering difficulties from three-point range, led her team in scoring with 11 points. Nateonia Russell contributed significantly, providing 11 points and showcasing an impressive defensive performance with three steals. Tori Meinecke made an impact on both ends of the court, recording seven points and leading the team with nine rebounds.

 

Bailey Fleming's sharpshooting from beyond the arc, contributing 11 points, and Mary Copeland's efficient scoring, adding six points, were instrumental to the team's offensive efforts.

 

McCook Community College put up a valiant fight, with Madara Liepniece leading their scoring efforts, recording an impressive 20 points. Audra Vine and Ebba Zalamans contributed with 8 and 9 points, respectively, but the Lady Pirate's defense managed to limit their offensive output.

 

Saturday, 11/18/2023:  NCMC 93, Central CC-Columbus 53

 

The highly ranked Lady Pirates got back to their high scoring ways against Central CC-Columbus to close out the DMACC Classic undefeated.  They posted a 93-53 win over the Raiders.

 

Jessica Reeter poured in 15 points on 4-10 shooting to lead the starters. Her remarkable accuracy from beyond the arc (3-7) and proficiency at the free-throw line (4-6) significantly contributed to NCMC's offensive dominance.

 

LaKorria Brown emerged as another crucial contributor to the team's success, displaying incredible shooting prowess by sinking six of eight three-point attempts, accumulating a game high 20 points off the bench. Brown's sharpshooting performance from long range was pivotal in stretching their lead and maintaining momentum throughout the game.

 

The team collectively demonstrated solid teamwork and ball movement, with 21 assists highlighting their collaborative offensive strategy. Additionally, the team's resilience on the boards was evident, securing a total of 58 rebounds, showcasing their dominance in both offensive and defensive rebounding.

 

North Central Missouri's well-rounded offensive contributions and their ability to control the game's tempo paved the way for this significant win, highlighting their proficiency and teamwork on the court.

 

Next up for the undefeated Lady Pirates (6-0) will be a home matchup on Tuesday with John Wood CC.  Tipoff is set for 5:30pm.
