In a Sophomore Day matchup of top NJCAA DII combatants, the NCMC Lady Pirates toppled 7th ranked Lake Land College 76-57 in front of a packed house at the Ketcham Community Center. The win pushed NCMC's record to 21-6 with on regular season game on the schedule, a home date on Tuesday against Des Moines Area CC.
All-American Nora Ford led the way for NCMC with 22 points on 7-14 shooting. She knocked in 4-5 from long range as well for the Lady Pirates. Maci Moore recorded a double-double by pulling down a game high 10 rebounds to go with her 14 points.
Lake Land's Lexi Niebrugge totaled 22 points of her own in the Laker's losing effort. As a team, Lake Land shot 45.8% in the game to NCMC's 52.6%. The Lakers found themselves down 19 points at halftime and could not cut into the deficit. A dismal 2nd quarter where they scored just 4 points proved to be the difference.
