NCMC Lady Pirates basketball took their first loss of the season on Saturday when they fell to Iowa Western CC in a battle of ranked opponents. NCMC, ranked 6th in the NJCAA DII preseason poll, dropped the game 101-72 to the 11th ranked Reivers.
Leading NCMC is scoring was Ianara Morbidoni with 29 points on 11-20 shooting. Sophomores Nora Ford (13 pts) and Kennadie Crowe (12 pts) each totaled double figures for the Pirates who shot 45.3% from the field as a team in defeat.
Iowa Western had four players score in double digits led by Caela Tighe's 23 points off the bench. She made 4-6 from behind the arc in the game.
Next up for the Lady Pirates will be a home matchup with Marshalltown CC on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm.
