National Tournament Bound For Lady Pirates

 

TICKET PUNCHED!  NCMC women's basketball ensured a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament by soundly defeating Southern Arkansas University Tech 87-54 on Saturday in front of a packed Ketcham Community Center crowd.  The win pushes the team's record to 24-5 as they wait to see what seed they will have at nationals which will be held in Port Huron, MI on March 15-19.  The selection show will be Tuesday, March 8th at 2:00pm at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRU5pBKHzUibLWG0rvEhEGw/videos.

 

The 17th ranked Lady Pirates used a balanced attack against SAU Tech.  All NCMC starters totaled double digits in scoring led by NJCAA Region XVI MVP Nora Ford's 19 points.  The tandem of Maci Moore and Jasmine Taylor controlled the boards for NCMC, with 11 and 10 rebounds respectively. 

 

The NCMC defense was on display in a big way in the victory.  They held SAU Tech to 30.3% shooting and were able to get 11 steals in the win.

 

This will be the Lady Pirates first trip to the national tournament since the 2013-14 season and the 4th overall appearance.
