Lady Pirates Start 2022 With Strong Road Win

The 16th ranked Lady Pirates started 2022 off with a strong road win Wednesday at Fort Scott CC 69-55.  The win improves the team's record to 11-3 ahead of a home matchup Saturday against Highland CC.  Tipoff for that game is set for 2pm.  Following the women's game, men's basketball opens their second semester schedule by hosting John Wood CC.

Pacing the Lady Pirates attack against Fort Scott was Nora Ford with 16 points on 6-16 shooting.  Also in double figures were fellow starters Kennadie Crowe (15 points), Jasmine Taylor (13 points) and Maci Moore (12 points).  Taylor, a recently announced commit for Columbia College following her NCMC career, also pulled down a team high 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.

An intense NCMC defense set the tone for the game and held Fort Scott to just 32.2% shooting on their home court.  The Lady Pirates shot 47.2% from the field but did commit 21 turnovers, a number they will look to minimize Saturday against Highland.
