Close Home Loss For Lady Pirates To Start The Season

NCMC's 15th ranked Lady Pirates basketball team opened their 2021 season with a close 71-67 home defeat at the hands of the 9th ranked Kansas City Kansas CC Blue Devils.  NCMC started strong, holding a 6-point advantage after the first quarter but couldn't hold that lead.  At halftime, KCKCC had tied the ballgame.  The third quarter also belonged to KCKCC, outscoring the Lady Pirates 21-14.  NCMC fought back valiantly in down the stretch but came up just short in their comeback bid.

Leading the scoring for NCMC was Trenton, MO native Maci Moore.  She totaled 18 points off the bench in her first collegiate game. Freshman Kennadie Crowe also had a strong showing for the Lady Pirates scoring 14 points.

The Blue Devils did a good job defensively on NCMC's returning All-American Kortlyn Rounkles, holding her to just 7 points on 3-8 shooting.

The next action for NCMC will be a Sunday home matchup with John Wood CC.  Tip-off for the game will be 2:00pm.
