Lady Pirates Close The Regular Season With A Region XVI Split

The regular season completed for NCMC women's basketball over the weekend.  On Thursday, the Lady Pirates took care of business against Metropolitan Community College 75-69.  That win set up a Saturday showdown at St. Louis Community College with the Region XVI top seed on the line.  NCMC came up short in that battle, falling to the Archers 79-67.  NCMC's final regular season record is 19-9 and 2-2 in region play.

In Thursday's win, Lily Osborn led all scorers with 24 points.  She knocked in 5 of 7 from behind the arc.  Also having a nice offensive game was Kortlyn Rounkles with 18 points.

Against St. Louis, Rounkles, Kennedie Kieffer and Dymeria Guillory totaled double digits.  However, as a team, the Lady Pirates shot only 36% from the field.

The NJCAA Region XVI tournament is the next action for the Lady Pirates.  As the #2 seed, NCMC will have a semifinal matchup with #3 seed Metropolitan Community College.  That game will be contested on Thursday, Feb. 27th at 8:00pm.  All region tournament games will be played at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO.  With a win, the Lady Pirates will take on St. Louis Community College in the championship on Saturday at 4:00pm.
