Back And Forth Road Win In Creston

Back And Forth Road Win In Creston

Lady Pirates Basketball hit the road on Wednesday night and pulled out a close 75-74 victory over Southwestern Community College to improve their record to 6-3 for the season.

Here is a narrative about the victory from Head Coach Jenni Croy.  "We went up 15 points in the 3rd quarter.  We came out of halftime and really moved the ball well and got great looks for the first 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter.  Then, we went ice cold scoring only 2 points in the next 4 minutes.  Southwestern caught fire both inside and out and we struggled to answer.  They came back, tied the game, and actually gained the lead.  The game was all tied up when Lily Osborn hit a 3 with 8 seconds left to regain the lead.  SWCC called a timeout to advance the ball up the court.  We had only 2 fouls in the half so we decided to foul.  We committed one foul and then they inbounded the ball and got to the basket before we could foul scoring a layup with 3 seconds left.  Luckily, we were smart enough to not foul on the shot.  With 3 seconds left, we also called a timeout to advance it up the floor.  We were then fouled but could not make either free throw.  They luckily turned the ball over on their inbounds play securing our victory.  Despite struggling all game from the free throw line, it was nice to get the close road win."

Next up for NCMC will be a home game against Southeast Community College on Saturday.  The Storm have a record of 2-5 currently.
