Weekend Splits for Men's and Women's Basketball

Pirates and Lady Pirates Basketball each split their slate of games over the weekend.  For the men, it was a 78-71 loss on Friday to Labette Community College before getting a win on Saturday against Kansas City Kansas Community College 78-52.  The script was flipped for the ladies as they won on Friday 65-60 over Hesston College but lost Saturday to KCKCC 109-69.

Coach Croy's Lady Pirates were led in scoring for each game by sophomore Hailey Burrows; she has scored double figures in every contest this season.  On Friday, she poured in 27 points before netting 20 points on Saturday.  Her 18.4 points per game this season leads the team and is 13.3 points better than her freshman campaign average.

On the men's side, Soloman Thomas had a huge night Friday in the losing effort.  He scored nearly half of the Pirates points, ending with 34.  Saturday, the Pirates spread the scoring more evenly to earn their win.  Marty Jackson and Jake Salisbury led the way with 15 points and Thomas chipped in 14.

Next action for both teams will be Tuesday when they host Southwestern Community College.  Lady Pirates tip-off at 5:30pm with the men to follow.
