Rough Road Trip For Pirates and Lady Pirates

It was a tough Saturday for the men's and women's basketball teams as they dropped a region road double header at St. Louis Community College.  To get things started, the 19th ranked Lady Pirates fell 69-55 to the 4th ranked Archers.  With the loss, the Lady Pirates are now 17-6 overall and 1-2 in Region 16 play.  On the men's side, the Archer's were able to down the Pirates 83-67.  With the loss, the Pirates are now 12-9 overall and 1-2 in Region 16 action.

Leading the scoring for the Lady Pirates was Sarah Lamp with 14 points.  The other two players in double figures for NCMC were Kendey Eaton (13 points) and Whitley Richman (11 points).  Lamp also pulled down 14 rebounds in the losing effort.

On the men's side, Coach Esry had these comments on his team's road effort.  "It was a tough day for the Pirates as we just didn't get that 40 minutes of consistency that we needed.  St. Louis played very strong and we struggled at times to match that.  We had some great looks early that we couldn't capitalize on and that led us to play from behind most of the second half."

Next up for the Lady Pirates is a home region contest against Cottey College on Monday night.  For the men, they go on the road Tuesday to face Indian Hills Community College.
