Lady Pirates Fall To North Arkansas On Sophomore Day

The Lady Pirates came up short on Saturday against a tough North Arkansas College team 68-57.  The loss drops the squad to 20-7 on the year.

"In the first half they dominated us inside. We tried switching defense and then their outside game hurt us. We knew coming in we had to play 4 solid quarters. We came out in the 3rd quarter with some fire and really played well on both ends of the floor. Unfortunately, during the 4th quarter we just couldn't get back in it," commented Coach Croy.

Kendey Eaton led the Pirates scoring with 26 points but her efforts proved to not be enough.

The defeat was on a day filled with festivities.  Sophomores Dasia Young, Asia Young, Jami Nickerson, Adriana Segar, Kelly Warford, and McKinley Hurley were recognized for their contributions to the program.  Additionally, managers Raven Mammah and Tristan Hicks were also acknowledged.  Former standout player Cassie Hunt also went into the Athletic Hall of Fame for the Lady Pirates as did former coach Max Mothersbaugh.

The next action for the Lady Pirates will be when they take on St. Louis Community College at home on Thursday in a game that will decide the regular season Region 16 champion and set the seeding for the coming region tournament.  Earlier in the year, on the road, the Lady Pirates fell to the Archers 75-73.
