NCMC Softball Gets Sophomore Day Sweep, Wins 3 of 4 Region 16 Matchups

NCMC softball won three of their four Region 16 games over the weekend to improve to 25-20 overall and 9-15 in region play.  They split a road doubleheader with MSU-West Plains on Thursday before earning a home Sophomore Day sweep over St. Charles CC on Saturday.

 

In the 3-0 victory over MSU-West Plains, the Pirates got a 1-hit shutout performance from pitcher Cassi Rodgers.  She totaled 3 strikeouts in the commanding performance.  Offensively Addison Huber total 2 hits to lead the way for NCMC.  Gracie McKinney added a double in the victory.

 

In a tight 8-7 loss to West Plains, 7 NCMC errors leading to 4 unearned runs proved the difference.  Briley Bouma took the loss, surrendering 4 runs over 2.2 innings pitched.  Huber homered in the defeat and leadoff Rylie Boyer went 3-4 with 2 runs scored.

 

NCMC's offense was firing on all cylinders against St. Charles CC.  In the opening 12-4 win, Hope Helton (2-3, 2 runs), Brookelynn Becker (2-3, 2 runs) and Rylee Murray (2-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs) powered the middle of the order for the Pirates.  Kaylence Cook also had a great offensive game, going 1-4 with 4 RBIs.  Earning the win was Rodgers with a complete game victory.

 

To close out Saturday's action, NCMC again earned a run rule victory.  This game's final score was 11-3 with Chloe Bell staring.  She went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBIs.  She homered in the game along with Huber and Rodgers.  Rodgers twirled another complete game victory, scattering 4 hits and striking out 4.

 

Sophomores honored on Saturday were Rylie Boyer, Chloe Helmer, Kaylence Cook, Rylee Murray, Maeve Lavoy, Ivy Hearn, Gracie McKinney, Taijha Davis, Chloe Bell, Hailey Shepardson and Lauren Krohn.

 

Next up will be a home doubleheader with Metropolitan CC on Tuesday.  First pitch at Griffin Field is set for 1pm.
