NCMC softball split a twin bill on Saturday at Metropolitan CC, winning game one 13-7 before dropping the finale 12-10. The Pirates are now 5-13 in Region 16 play and 20-15 overall. Next up will be a road doubleheader Tuesday at Indian Hill CC. NCMC split their home doubleheader with the Warriors last week.
In the win, NCMC slugged 18 hits and were led by Brookelynn Becker's 4-5 performance that included a homer and 4 RBIs. Maeve Lavoy picked up the win in complete game fashion, tossing 7 innings and allowing 4 earned runs.
The Pirates kept hitting in game two but 3 defensive errors led to 5 unearned runs which couldn't be overcome. Briley Bouma took the loss, surrendering 6 runs in 1.2 innings pitched. NCMC had a balanced offensive attack with 9 players collecting hits including doubles from Hope Helton, Hailey Shepardson, Taijha Davis and Becker.
