Sophomores Honored As NCMC Softball Finishes Regular Season

Pirate's softball honored their four sophomore players on Sunday between games of a home doubleheader with Moberly Area CC.  The Pirates lost both games, 10-9 and 14-12, to finish the regular season with a 25-29 record.  Sophomores recognized for their contributions to NCMC softball were Emma Angel (Laddonia, MO), Caragan Baker (Gallatin, MO), Mallory Greiwe (Madison, MO) and Carsen Sporleder (Unionville, MO).

In the opener, the game went to extra innings tied 6-6.  Moberly was able to plate 4 runs in the 8th inning and NCMC's comeback attempt fell just a run short.  The combination of Rylie Boyer and Sporleder each had 3 hits to go with Gracie McKinney's 4-4 game.  Baker added a pair of doubles plus scored a pair of runs.  Taking the loss in the pitcher's circle was Lauren Krohn.  She allowed 9 runs over 7 innings pitched.

Game 2 saw more offense.  NCMC played from behind the entirety of the game and their 4-run 7th came up just short of victory.  Maeve Lavoy took the complete game loss, allowing 9 earned runs over 7 innings.  Leading the offense was Hailey Shepardson.  She went 3-4 with a pair of home runs and 3 RBIs.  Boyer also homered, her lone hit in the game.

Next up for the Pirates will be the NJCAA DI Region 16 tournament, which will be hosted by NCMC at Ebbe Sports Complex on May 4-6.
