Softball Improves To 8-8 In Region 16 Play Over The Weekend

Softball won 3 of 4 region games over the weekend to improve to 22-18 overall and 8-8 in Region 16 play.  Friday saw NCMC split a road doubleheader with State Fair CC, losing the opener 9-1 and winning the finale 8-4.  Home fans saw the Pirates sweep St. Charles CC on Saturday 9-6 and 9-1.  The team has 14 remaining regular season games with 8 coming against region opponents.

 

In the win against State Fair, Emma Angel had a stellar 3-4 game at the plate, driving in 2 runs.  NCMC's speed was on display as the Pirates stole 5 bases in the victory.  Lauren Krohn threw the complete game victory, recording 5 strike outs and allowing 4 earned runs.

 

In the opening victory over St. Charles, power was the name of the game for NCMC hitters.  Chloe Bell, Caragan Baker and Rylee Murray each homered.  Baker in the game went 3-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs.  Krohn again earned the pitching win, tossing 7 innings and giving up 5 earned runs.

 

To close out the weekend, Maeve Lavoy dominated in the pitcher's circle.  She allowed just a single run over 5 innings in the run-rule victory.  Lavoy also homered along with another blast from Baker.  Bell went 3-3 with 2 runs scored.

 

Next up will be a road matchup with Indian Hills CC on Monday.  First pitch of the doubleheader in Ottumwa, IA, is set for 3pm.
