Men’s Golf 8th At Graceland Spring Invitational

The North Central Missouri College Pirate Men's Golf team traveled to Maryvlle, MO over the weekend to compete in the Graceland Spring Invitational held at Mozingo Lake Course. The solid tournament field consisted of Morningside University, Southwesten CC, Hawkeye CC, KCKCC, Buena Vista University, Waldorf University, NIACC, and Graceland University. The Pirates posted a Day One score of 337 and improved on Day Two with a team score of 334 for a 36-hole total of 671. "This is always an outstanding tournament field for the guys to compete in this early in the Spring. They needed to shake some rust off and can now improve off of this and they know that. These types of tournaments are a mental grind but the guys need to do a better job of being mentally tough for all 18 holes and not just 12 or 13 holes of the round. If they can clean up the unforced mistakes they are right there with the rest of the competition."

Kyle Steel and Cam Bates led the Pirates in scoring for the event. Steel finished in T27th after a 36-hole score of 160. Bates started off slow Friday with an opening round 89 but rebounded well with a final round 76 and his personal best 18-hole score. Other Pirate scores for the event was Austin Lasher (169), Luke Lopes (176), Jacob Stallo (178), and Mason Moncrief (184).

The Pirates will now turn their attention to the Iowa Central CC Spring Invitational on April 7th and 8th held at Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge, IA.
