Pirates Have Solid Bounce Back Tournament At Grandview

The North Central Missouri College Men's Golf team traveled to Ankeny, IA on Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Grandview Fall Invitational hosted by Grandview University. The Pirates placed T-6th for the event after posting a day one score of 320 but bouncing back firing a team score of 306 on Tuesday. "This was our best showing of the Fall by far not score wise but because of the level of competition and the difficulty of the course. On Tuesday the wind started to really pick up and the guys improved by the most shots in the tournament field which was fun to watch. A 36-hole score of 626 is a great way to transition into our last event of the Fall."

Kyle Steel led the Pirates with a Top 10 finish placing in T7th for the event. Steel shot 73 on Monday and backed it up firing a 72 on Tuesday. "Kyle showed some maturity at the event and played some solid golf these past two days. If he can continue to stay hot with the putter I expect his scores to continue to stay the same or even some under par scores.

Will Heller and Jaron McClaran put together solid tournament rounds and placed T27th and T31st respectively after posting rounds of 79-77 and 78-79. Other individual scores for NCMC were Mason Moncrief (+19), Jerret Courtney (+19), Austin Lasher (+23), Jacob Stallo (+24) and Luke Lopes (+28).  "I was really pleased with everyone's effort 1-8 this week and will hopefully give them some confidence for qualifying on Thursday and Friday. They fought off some nerves early in the tournament but all scored their golf ball very nicely around Otter Creek. A golf course that forces you to give your full attention to each hole 1-18."

The Pirate Men will now close out their Fall Tournament Schedule at the State Fair Roadrunner Classic. The tournament will be held at Sedalia Country Club with 18 holes on Monday and concluding with 18 more on Tuesday.
