The NCMC Men's Golf team traveled to Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, MO on Wednesday and Thursday to open up their fall season at the Rockhurst Fall Invitational. North Central fired a team score of 318 on Wednesday and improved on their total on Thursday with a team tally of 315. The 36 hole total of 633 placed the Pirates in a tie for 4th place with Crowder College. Missouri Southern State won the team portion of the event posting a two day total of 579. "Huge thanks to Coach Konzem over at Rockhurst for putting together a great tournament these past couple days. This was the best tournament field we could have asked for this early in the Fall with Missouri Southern, Rockhurst, and William Jewell. Throwing Crowder College and Metropolitan CC in the mix we knew we had our work cut out for us."
Kyle Steel led the Pirates at the event shooting a 75 on Wednesday and backing it up with a final round 74 and finishing in 13th place for the tournament. "Kyle continued his solid play after a disappointing finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in May which set some fire underneath him. His ball striking was consistent and played well around the greens. He will also be the first to tell someone that he missed plenty of opportunities on the course. A 36-hole total of 149 and one shot out of a Top 10 finish is a great start to the fall and I expect his play to only get better", detailed Coach Swann.

"I was proud of everybody 1-9 coming in with the correct mentality and not shying away from the four year schools we competed against. They all know they can improve from their total but there were also ample amount of learning opportunities and it was a great tournament to kick off our Fall season."
NCMC Men's Golf will now turn their attention to the Graceland Fall Invitational at Lamoni Golf and Country Club on September 15th.
