
Pirates basketball picked up a pair of wins over the Thanksgiving break which pushed their season record to 6-4 ahead of a road matchup Tuesday night with Allen County Community College. On November 22nd, NCMC bested 19th ranked John Wood CC 85-76 on the road. This past Sunday it was a home overtime victory over Johnson County CC 93-91. The Cavaliers were receiving votes in the latest NJCAA DII poll.
Against John Wood, freshman Nelson Reynolds led the scoring with 25 points. He knocked in 7-12 from behind the arc plus pulled down 8 rebounds. Off the bench, Kam Bevel went 5-10 shooting for 15 points. Isaiah Reams got 15 points of his own with an efficient 5-6 shooting night.
Bevel had a banner game against Johnson County scoring a career high 33 point after being inserted in the starting lineup for the injured Gerald Gittens. Reynolds again had a nice scoring night putting up 25 points including 6 trifectas. Pulling down some clutch rebounds for the NCMC was freshman Dampier Evans who grabbed 9 boards in the win.
