Tough Weekend For 19th Ranked Pirates Basketball

NCMC men's basketball took their first losses of the season over the weekend when they were defeated by Kansas City Kansas CC 87-83 on Friday and Link Year Prep 97-80 on Saturday at the KCKCC Classic.  With the losses, the now 3-2 Pirates will look to rebound Tuesday when they travel to Iowa Falls, IA to take on Ellsworth CC.  It will be a battle of NJCAA DII ranked opponents with NCMC at #19 and Ellsworth at #11 in the latest poll.

Against KCKCC, the Pirates leading scorer was Nelson Reynolds with 19 points off the bench on 7-10 shooting including three from beyond the arc.  Starters Gerald Gittens (14 pts), Isaiah Reems (14 pts) and Carlton Thomas (11 pts) each had solid scoring efforts as well.  However, KCKCC had a pair of players do the majority of their damage, Bradley Lightbourne and Joshua Dames each with 23 points, which proved too much for the Pirates to overcome.  NCMC had a 5-point halftime lead but were outscored 44-35 in the second half.

NCMC's next home action will be Thursday when they take on Hannibal LaGrange JV.  The game theme is "Red Alert" and fans are encouraged to wear their favorite RED NCMC apparel.
