Pirates basketball outlasted a shorthanded Southwestern Community College squad Saturday to grab an 80-69 victory. With the win, NCMC boasts an impressive 11-1 record with two games left to play before the holiday break.
Leading the scoring for the Pirates was freshman TJ Babikir. He netted 23 points and pulled down 6 rebounds in the win. Claiming a double-double was Quinan Rieves with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The story of the game was Southwestern's lack of depth. Only 6 players dressed due to suspensions and the Spartans finished the contest with only 3 players on the court.
Here are Coach Esry's postgame remarks about the game.
Next will be a road test Tuesday for the 14th ranked Pirates. They travel to Kansas City to take on Johnson County Community College, currently ranked #1 in the latest NJCAA poll.
