Pirate's baseball went 1-2 in their home series this weekend with Region 16 foe Moberly Area CC. NCMC took the opening game on Friday 10-9 before dropping the nightcap 5-4. On Saturday, the Pirates took a 13-0 defeat in 5 innings. The team now sits at 18-25 overall and 5-4 in Region 16 play.
Earning the Pirates lone win on the mound was sophomore Evan Johnston. He tossed 1.2 innings of relief and allowed 1 earned run while striking out 2. His season record is 4-1 with 1 save. Walks and hit batsmen plagued the pitching staff as a whole, allowing 27 free bases in the 3 games.
The offense for NCMC was a balanced attack. Collecting 4 hits apiece were Bailey Quint, Hagen McGarrah, Jesus Fonseca, Landon Wells and Layne Rutherford. Quint belted his 5th home run of the year and collected 5 RBIs.
