Potent Offense Powers NCMC Baseball To Three Weekend Wins At Hesston

Pirate's baseball stayed hot over the weekend when they took 3 of 4 road games against Hesston College.  On Saturday, NCMC hammered out an 18-9 win before dropping a 3-2 decision in game two.  Sunday saw the bats come alive again with 16-10 and 13-3 victories to improve the team's record to 16-22 overall.

Pacing the potent NCMC attack were sophomores Bailey Quint (8-17, 9 runs, 1 HR) and Layne Rutherford (8-17, 6 runs, 4 RBIs).  Freshman catcher Justin Dameron also had an exceptional weekend, batting .625 with 5 runs and 4 RBIs.  Raynel Del Rosario and Tanner Wright each homered for the Pirates as well.

Pitchers earning wins were starters Tanner Schmidt (3.1 IP, 4 ER) and Quint (6.0 IP, 1 ER, 6 Ks) plus relief ace Evan Johnston (4.2 IP, 1 ER, 9 Ks).  For Quint, his complete game victory moved his season record to 5-1.  Johnston lowered his season ERA to a stellar 3.26 and leads the team in strikeouts with 46 to date.

Next up the Pirates will put their perfect 4-0 home record on the line Wednesday when they host Southeast CC for a doubleheader.  The visiting Storm are 33-10 and riding a 10 game winning streak coming into the matchup.
