Pirates Baseball Stays Hot

Pirates baseball thumped Southwestern Illinois College 10-2 to kick off their spring break trip south.  With the win, NCMC now holds a 10-11 record for the season.  The Pirates have won 6 of their last 8 games, and look to push their record over .500 down in Myrtle Beach.

Pirates sophomore Cash Miller posted a quality start against SWIC, tossing 6 innings while allowing only 1 earned run.  His win moved his spring record to 2-3.

The offense was again firing on all cylinders for the Pirates.  Setting the table was Genesis Nunez; he went 1-3 in the game, scoring twice.  He also added 3 walks to his nation leading 29 for the year.  His on base percentage as the Pirates leadoff is an excellent .562.

Benefiting yet again from Nunez's on base prowess was the meat of the Pirates lineup, Braedyn Brewer, Logan Eickhoff and Nathaniel Bentura.  Those three combined to go 6-14 against SWIC, driving in 8 runs and scoring another 4.  Bentura knocked the games only home run, a no-doubter in the 9th inning.

Next up for NCMC will be six games in Myrtle Beach, SC, at the Ripken Experience.  The Pirates home opener will take place on Saturday, March 21st against Park University JV.
