Pirates Get One Win In 3 Rivers Series

Pirates baseball went on the road this past weekend for a three game series with old Division I rival Three Rivers Community College.  The Pirates earned a victory in game one, besting the Raiders by a score of 3-1.  Games two and three saw defeats for the Pirates by the scores of 10-5 and 8-0.  NCMC's season record is now 3-4 with the next action coming Friday and Saturday when they take on State Fair CC and John Wood CC.  All games will be played in Sedalia, MO.

 

Pirates pitching keyed success in the team's lone win.  Sophomore Alexander Lovin tossed 5 solid innings, with his only blemish being a solo homerun in the 5th inning.  River McCallon came on and pitched the 6th inning, earning the win.  Freshman Avery Rivero picked up his second save of the young season with a perfect 7thGenesis Nunez was the catalyst for the Pirates offense in the win.  He went 2-3 while scoring a run and driving in another.

 

Taking the losses on the mound in the next two games were Dylan Niemeyer and Cash Miller

 

Nunez led the offense for the weekend batting .500 and driving in 3 runs.  Also having a solid weekend was Eastern Illinois signee Logan Eickhoff.  He batted .444 and scored a run.  As a team, the offense as a whole struggled to get traction, posting a .250 average with 28 strikeouts.
