Eickhoff Signs With Eastern Illinois University

NCMC's starting centerfielder/catcher Logan Eickhoff made his commitment to Eastern Illinois University baseball official on Wednesday when he signed his national letter of intent to be a Panther for the 2020-21 season.

"It's been a huge goal of mine to play NCAA Division I baseball ever since I was a kid," commented Eickhoff.  That dream will be realized due to his desire to achieve and work ethic, which allows him to continually improve.  "I saw Logan at a recruitment showcase in the Kansas City area as a high school senior and I loved his athleticism and the energy he brought to the field that day.  He ended up coming to us as a walk-on player, receiving no scholarship.  All he was looking for was an opportunity to prove himself and we are certainly glad we gave him that chance," commented NCMC assistant coach Ryan Suttenfield.

Eickhoff was a leading contributor for Pirates baseball last spring as a freshman.  He batted .354 and led the team in hits (62), runs scored (45), and stolen bases (11).

Athleticism and versatility are attributes that drew Eastern Illinois to Eickhoff.  "Logan is an exciting athlete, whose versatility and bat-to-ball skills will stand out from the first day he steps on campus," commented the EIU Baseball twitter account of the signing.

The always-humble Eickhoff had these closing thoughts on his time so far at NCMC.  "I'd like to thank NCMC for helping me develop into the player I am today and believing in me."
