Baseball Drops 4 Games On Opening Weekend

NCMC Pirates Baseball opened their season on the road this past weekend with a four game set against Fort Scott Community College.  The Pirates fell in all four matchups.

In a game one 15-5 loss, the Pirates committed 5 errors defensively and gave up 4 homeruns.  The offensive bright spot came from Enrique Madera who went 2-3 with a triple and a homerun.  Trae Brownell took the loss on the mound.

Game two was much of the same.  Fort Scott scored 11 runs on 6 hits, 7 walks and 3 Pirate errors.  The lone run for the Pirates came on a solo homerun from Terrence Goeloe.  Taking the 11-1 loss on the mound for the Pirates was Tristen Sewell.

The front end of the Sunday double header saw the Pirates best effort on the weekend.  Blake Collister and Brandon Whitehead combined to only allow 2 earned runs to the potent Fort Scott lineup.  However, the Pirates couldn't get anything going offensively totaling just 2 hits in the contest.  The Pirates dropped the decision 4-0.

The final game saw more poor defense from the Pirates who committed 4 errors.  Moses LaFontaine took the loss giving up 8 runs, 3 of which were earned, while allowing 3 hits and walking 6 batters.  Offensively, the Pirates couldn't muster a run on their 4 hits.  The 10-0 defeat dropped the Pirates overall record to 0-4.

Next up for the Pirates will be a road trip to Columbia State Community College.  The Pirates will play a double header against the Chargers on Friday before taking on Frontier Community College in a double header on Saturday.
