Friday Split For Pirates Against Wentworth

Friday Split For Pirates Against Wentworth

The NCMC Pirates split a home doubleheader on Friday against Wentworth Military Academy.  The team's overall record is now 18-21.

In game one, the Pirates offense was on fire.  The 21-2 victory in 5 innings was the team's largest margin of win on the year.  The Pirates hit 5 homeruns, including two from Quinsly Balentien including a grand slam.  Wade Phillips earned the win pitching 4 innings allowing 1 earned run.  "The wind was blowing out today and we took advantage of it in the first game," remarked Coach Suttenfield.

Game two didn't go as well.  The Pirates faced a more challenging pitcher from Wentworth and were only able to muster 2 runs off of 4 hits.  "You have to give credit to their pitcher.  He threw a complete game and was just better than us.  It is especially disappointing to take a loss to a team that you have much more physical talent than.  We have to get mentally stronger or we will never reach the team goals we have set," commented Suttenfield.

The remaining schedule for the Pirates includes 3 big Region 16 series with Crowder College, Mineral Area College, and MCC-Maple Woods.  "We control how we finish in the region.  We have to go out and take care of business," stated Coach Hillerman.
