Tuesday Split For Pirates Against MCC-Longview

The NCMC Pirates split on Tuesday in a home doubleheader with MCC-Longview, dropping the opener 9-0 before winning by the run rule 10-0 in the second game.  The Pirates are now 16-19 ahead of a Thursday trip to Belleville, IL where they will play Southwestern Illinois College.

"We came out flat and didn't compete well in the first game.  We really wasted a pretty good effort on the mound by sophomore Drew Bunch," remarked Coach Hillerman of the start to the day.  The Pirates totaled just 4 hits in the first contest.

Game two saw the Pirate bats come alive.  Led by a 2-2 effort from freshman Curtis Mitchell, including 2 runs and an RBI, the Pirates were able to tally 10 runs in 4 innings for the victory.  "We took much better at-bats in the second game.  I don't know why our focus improved but I'm glad that it did," commented Coach Hudlow.

Freshman Angel Reyes earned the win on the mound scattering 4 hits over 4 innings pitched, allowing 0 runs.
